MILLIONS of Brits are being denied justice as crimes go unsolved – as cases of shoplifting soar, shock figures reveal.
Culprits in England and Wales got away scot-free nearly six thousand times every day in the year to September 2023 with ministers now accused of failing to “get a handle on crime”.

The damning Home Office stats reveal less than 6 per cent of all offences resulted in the suspect being charged or summoned.
Meanwhile, 2.18 million offences were closed without offenders being identified – a 9% increase compared to 2022.
Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesman Alistair Carmichael said: “The Conservative Government has totally failed to get a handle on crime, and they have no one but themselves to blame.”
Total knife crime also rose by 77 percent, from 27,498 in 2015 to 48,716 alone.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “Enough is enough.
“Britain cannot afford more of this damaging decline from the Conservatives.
“Labour will restore the rule of law on Britain’s streets and in our town centres, and take urgent action to keep our young people safe from knife crime.”
Home Secretary James Cleverly said: “This government has a plan to protect the British public, and the plan is working.
“Since 2010 our communities are safer, with neighbourhood crimes including burglary, robbery and theft down 48% and violent crime down 51% compared with March 2010.”
