OUTRAGE was spreading earlier tonight over video circulating of a Tube driver leading passengers on chants of “Free Palestine”.

But dithering Transport for London officials — under increasing pressure to sack the culprit — have claimed they do not know who was responsible.

A Home Office source called the chanting on the Central Line travelling towards mass protests at Marble Arch “an insult”.

The fury came as cops faced accusations of soft policing after looking on as members of an Islamist group yelled “jihad” at the anti-Israel rally.

Home Office minister Robert Jenrick said chanting by Hizb ut-Tahrir should face “the full strength of the law”.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman will tomorrow demand answers from Met Police boss Sir Mark Rowley after his force suggested terms like jihad can have “many meanings”.

The Met and London Underground have also begun investigations into the Central Line chanting.

In the clip, the driver is heard on the tannoy saying: “So as I feel a part of it . . . kindly join me as we proceed to Bond Street.”

He then shouts “Free, free” eight times as passengers reply “Palestine”.

A spokesman for Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “This grossly unprofessional conduct is shocking . . . and dangerous.

“Imagine being a Jewish person on that train. As it appears in the footage, this incident is a disgrace to TfL.”

Tonight, a TfL spokesman said: “We will be scrutinising the footage to establish if it was a driver and who they were.”

The Met Police said it identified a man involved in Saturday’s “jihad” calls and “discouraged a repeat of similar chanting”.
