WOKE panto bosses are axing the seven dwarfs from Snow White this Christmas in case they offend anyone, it is claimed.

Chelmsford Theatre in Essex has reworked the fairytale without the seven dwarfs in what bosses called a “new twist”.

Some venues, including Sheffield‘s Lyceum where Corrie’s Catherine Tyldesley is starring, have dwarfs in their Snow White show but have cut them from the title.

Other previous productions have also used kids instead of dwarf actors and called them “fun-sized helpers”.

A dwarf actor agency said the fear of causing offence was killing off their clients’ roles in pantos.

Little Yet Large owner Adam Willcox said: “The name of the panto is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It needs dwarfs in it.

“Some theatres think they won’t put the panto on in case using the word dwarf offends someone.

“It’s also patronising for venues to put on Snow White with dwarfs in it, but remove the dwarfs from the panto’s name and posters.”

Chelmsford council, which runs the theatre, said: “Every so often we like to give storylines a bit of a new twist for audiences to enjoy.”

Sheffield’s Lyceum was contacted for comment.
