Cops say they “remain open minded” and “it remains a missing person enquiry at this stage”.
In a press conference this afternoon they said “there is no evidence of third party involvement” and added that Gaynor “did not meet anybody on the way to the park”.
Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley, County Policing Commander, added: “Specialist divers have found the body of a female in the River Wensum after a detailed and methodical search over the past few days.
“While we establish her identity, our thoughts are with Gaynor’s family at this difficult and distressing time.
“We have specialist family liaison officers supporting the family and keeping them updated with what we are doing at all stages.
“We remain open-minded to the circumstances of Gaynor’s disappearance and will continue to pursue all lines of enquiry to ascertain why she went missing.”
The officer continued: “I am keen to say that this remains a missing person enquiry at this stage.
“I am also satisfied at the moment based on the evidence that we have that Gaynor did not meet anybody on the way to the park and we now have a better understanding of her movements through the city centre.
“While this is not the outcome we wished for, our search has always predominantly focused on the river and the park. We will now need to complete a post-mortem examination to establish means of death.
“I would reiterate at this stage that there is no evidence of third party involvement. Nothing in our enquiries have changed this position.”
On the day Gaynor vanished, her white work shirt, yellow tank top, and jewellery were found spread out – and her olive-coloured coat was found in the River Wensum.
The same evening, the mum’s mobile phone, coat, ring and glasses were also found as police scoured Wensum Park.
Cops released CCTV of Gaynor earlier this week in the hopes people who saw her would come forward.
In the footage she could be seen smiling as she left work, before she appeared to be rushing along streets.
On Tuesday cops said that the “most likely scenario is that Gaynor entered the water”.
Police divers, assisted by fire crews and the coastguard, scoured the nearby River Wensum yesterday using sonar equipment to examine the water.
Officers also used drones and foot searches in the hunt for further clues.

“We want her home.”
She was last seen walking along London Street in Norwich around 2.45pm on Friday – 15 minutes after leaving her job at Jarrold’s department store.
Police released an image of Gaynor with a smile ear-to-ear as she left her workplace – Bullards Gin, at Jarrold’s department store.
Then, in a CCTV clip, the mum can be seen running along the path with her coat in hand.
She seems to be in a hurry, rushing to cross the road.
The mum seems to spend 30 minutes at the cathedral before she is spotted on CCTV again.
It was thought the mum may have met someone at the cathedral before she vanished.
