PLANS for a massive, new village with 2,000 homes and a retirement community have been approved.
The 59-acre site, which will also include a hotel, school and leisure centre, received the green light despite over 6,000 objecting.

Known as Clowne Garden Village, the new community will be situated on the edge of Balborough, Derbyshire.
The huge new site will provide thousands of homes, as the government pushes local authorities to build more housing.
A total of 1800 homes will be included in the new development as well as local services and facilities.
Maps showing the planned site revealed that schools and sports hubs are amongst the facilities which will be added.
Plans for the site were approved on August 20, though work on the project won’t start until planning permission has been granted.
Council leader Jane Yates said: “This development will be a huge change for Clowne and the surrounding areas and we appreciate a lot of people have concerns.
“We have done everything we can to ensure that concerns raised have been addressed through the planning process.
“We will continue to communicate and consult with the public throughout the development to ensure local people are kept informed.
“The impact this development will have on the district will be a hugely positive one with more resources and better choice of housing for residents.”
More than 6,000 people raised objections to the development in a in a council meeting last year.
Arguing it would overcrowd the area, they said the scheme would lead to strained health services and busy roads.
Others shared concerns about the surrounding countryside, saying the extra homes would create drainage problems and impact local wildlife.
Clowne East councillor David Bennett said: “It is unsustainable in the long-term. The heart of the village will become so clogged it will stop beating.”
Clowne Garden Village Action Group chairman Dominic Webb added: “You have failed, as a council, the parishes of Clowne and Barlborough. We will be fighting this.”
The news comes as the Government pushes ahead with its plans to build more housing by the end of the parliament.
Housing, as well as delivering economic growth, was one of the Labour Party’s key areas that it wanted to focus on when taking office.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed that the economy had grown by 0.3 per cent in the first quarter of the year – the highest rate in the G7.
