A 15-YEAR-OLD girl has tragically died after collapsing at a bus stop, with a man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
The teenager was rushed to hospital on June 6 after collapsing at a bus stop on Leeds Road in Allerton Bywater.
The 15-year-old girl sadly passed away six days after being admitted to hospital.
Police have confirmed that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and supplying a Class A drug, but has since been released on bail.
Initial tests have revealed that the teenager died after consuming MDMA.
In a statement, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested following the death of a teenage girl in a suspected drugs-related incident in Leeds.
“The 29-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of manslaughter and supplying a Class A drug. He remains in custody.
“At 6.59pm on Friday, June 6, police were contacted by hospital staff reporting concerns in relation to a 15-year-old girl who had been brought in by ambulance after collapsing at a bus stop in Leeds Road, Allerton Bywater.
“The girl remained in a critical condition and died in hospital on Thursday, June 12.
“Officers from Leeds District Safeguarding have been carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“They are supporting the girl’s family and ask that people show consideration and respect their privacy at what is clearly a very difficult time for them.
“Initial tests have shown the drug involved to be MDMA and there is no suggestion of any wider risks arising from this incident, other than the inherent dangers of all illegal drugs.”
