Girl, 3, hit by van after falling from car outside McDonald’s as woman, 37, arrested over ‘drug driving’

A YOUNG girl is fighting for her life after she fell from a car and was hit by a van outside a McDonald’s.

The tot, three, was travelling in a vehicle near a Merseyside shopping centre when the horror unfolded.

She is said to have tumbled from the car before she was tragically hit by a van – which stopped straight away.

Cops rushed to the scene and arrested the driver of the car – a 37-year-old woman – on suspicion of drug driving and child protection related offences.

The youngster was raced to hospital, where she is now fighting for her life.

The horror smash happened around 4pm at Welton Road, Bromborough.

Merseyside Police said: “Officers from Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit have arrested a 37-year-old woman from Leasowe following a serious road traffic collision in Wirral this afternoon.

“The incident happened on Welton Road, Bromborough, near to McDonald’s at about 4.10pm, when a silver van has collided with a three year old child who had exited from a Nissan Qashqai.

“The child was taken to hospital having sustained serious injuries, and she remains critical but stable.

“The driver of the transit van stopped at the scene and he is assisting police with the investigation.

“The woman was arrested for drug driving and child protection related offences and will be interviewed by officers.”
