RANGERS have reportedly spoken to Graham Potter about potentially becoming their new manager.

The Ibrox hierarchy are assessing their options after Steven Gerrard pulled out of the running for the job, with Danny Rohl understood to be the new frontrunner to replace Russell Martin.

Gerrard held talks with Rangers chiefs in London this week but has since told them that he’s not interested in making a return to his former club.

SunSport understands the timing isn’t right for the Liverpool legend, but he hasn’t closed the door on a potential move back to Glasgow in the future.

Rohl has since emerged as the leading candidate after positive talks with Rangers’ American owners.

It’s believed the former Sheffield Wednesday boss already has his backroom team lined up and has confirmed his plans to bring a former Rangers player with him to help win over the fanbase.

But Rohl isn’t the only manager Gers chiefs are speaking to.

The Daily Record claim Rangers have also opened talks with former West Ham and Chelsea boss Potter.

Potter, 50, has been on the Ibrox club’s radar for a long time as he was linked with the job in 2023 before Philippe Clement was appointed.

It’s said he has since been sounded out again, with Ibrox chiefs speaking to a number of targets.

The report also suggests that former Wolves and Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil has also held talks.

He’s been without a management gig for almost a year since he was sacked at Molineux last December.

It’s Rohl who is the current front-runner, though, after impressing Rangers chiefs during discussions this week.

Hearts boss Derek McInnes has also been in the running but the Tynecastle club are not anticipating any approach.

It’s believed Rangers would need to pay a compensation fee of around £500,000 if they are to prise him away from Gorgie.
