THE Grand National is coming back to Aintree on SATURDAY, and it’s set to be the highlight of the year. 

Last year, the joint favourite I Am Maximus raced to a stunning victory, handing trainer Willie Mullins his second win in the iconic race.

It’s been confirmed that the 2024 Grand National winner is heading back to Aintree to defend his £500,000 title. 

Should I Am Maximus storm to victory again, he will become only the second horse since Red Rum in the 1970s to retain the iconic crown.

But how much is up for grabs at this year’s Grand National?

Since 2014, the prize money for the legendary Grand National has been a cool £1million. 

There was a dip in 2021, when the winnings dropped to £750k because of the Covid pandemic, but it’s back up to the £1million mark now.

How to watch Grand National 2025

The Grand National is all set for Saturday, April 5, kicking off at a new earlier time of 4pm. 

If you’re planning to catch the action the old-fashioned way, tune into ITV1

The race was a mainstay on BBC for 52 years from 1960 to 2012, then switched to Channel Four for four years. 

Since 2017, ITV has been the home for this epic event, and that’s where you’ll want to be in 2025.
