HAMAS’ massacre was an “inside job” using Palestinians who helped kill and rob Israeli families who employed them, new evidence shows.

An apparent fall in tensions since 2021 had encouraged Israeli authorities to give out permits to allow Gaza residents to work in villages across the border.

But the communities where they worked were the ones decimated in a killing spree last weekend, in which more than 1,200 Israelis died.

Those Palestinian workers yesterday stood accused of aiding the terrorist killers and joining in the rampage.

National Rescue Unit chief Colonel Golan Vach told The Sun on Sunday: “I have spoken to survivors from Be’eri who recognised people from Gaza among the Hamas attackers.

“These were the people who have been given jobs here. The first wave of around 1,000 were Hamas killers who came here to murder and destroy.

“But the employees were in the second wave of hundreds of robbers who followed, whose mission was to steal.

“They had worked here and knew exactly where to go to steal all of the most valuable items — watches, jewellery, gold, anything they could find.

“This was because they had inside knowledge of the communities they betrayed. It was an inside job.”

A Sun on Sunday team was escorted into Be’eri by Israel Defence Forces troops yesterday.

Just three miles from Gaza, it was one of the worst hit kibbutz villages in the carnage.

Some 100 of the 1,100 residents were killed.

A week on from the mayhem, the deserted streets still bore the scars of battle and the sickly stench of death hung in the air.

Bodies were still being recovered by troops as we arrived.

An apparently burned victim was being zipped into a body bag by white-suited forensic recovery teams.

A team volunteer called Joseph said: “The bodies we are finding around here now are all Hamas fighters killed in the fighting. Around 30 have been brought to this spot today.”

Pointing at a pile of white body bags being lifted into a truck by a fork-lift, he said: “They slaughtered our people and don’t deserve the dignity we are giving them in death when they have done such inhuman things. But we are trying to do a professional job.

“There is still a lot of anger and we don’t want anyone to ever forget what happened here.

“If this war goes on for weeks, months or even years we must fight to rid our land of this evil.”

Burned out cars blasted into trees by rockets and others crushed by tanks were strewn along streets lined with the charred ruins of homes.

It was eerily quiet moving along the smashed streets, where birdsong had returned — coupled with the distant crump of Israeli bombs and artillery hammering Gaza.

We passed a children’s playground where abandoned Lego and toys were strewn among bullet casings and debris.

Then two burned and bullet-riddled police vehicles came into view.

Colonel Vach explained: “This is the spot where Israeli police died fighting Hamas to the death.

“They died in these vehicles as heroes doing their job. We know this because we found the magazines of their weapons were empty and they fought to the last bullet.”

He went on: “When we first heard about the attack I set off at over 110 miles per hour — and was overtaken by police on motorbikes, some with guns and some not.

“They drove at such speed to rescue our citizens. Sadly, when I got there, those brave police officers were all dead.

“Those who came here with no weapons fought too. They took guns off the terrorists and fought bravely to save lives.

“They did what they are supposed to do, to fight and protect and save people.”

He added: “I served as a combat officer for 17 years. But what I saw here no human should ever see.”

They mutilated baby and mum

ISRAELI commander Colonel Golan Vach last night told of his horror at discovering a baby beheaded by Hamas savages.

Colonel Vach said he recovered a murdered mum and tot in a burned-out home at Be’eri kibbutz.

He said: “Not only have I seen a baby beheaded by Hamas, I held it in my hands. It happened — I saw it and I know the same thing has happened elsewhere.”

Colonel Vach stressed video and pictures exist after Hamas denied claims.

He said: “We have the evidence showing what these animals did but they’re probably sights most people could not bear to see.”

The Sun’s team were also taken to a farmhouse where 19 people were killed, including another eight babies and children found huddled in a corner with their hands bound.

Israeli major Liad Diamond asked: “What kind of monster can kill a child in front of his parents then kill them? I will tell you — a monster from Hamas.”
