Golf stars like Matt Fitzpatrick, Scottie Scheffler and local lad Rory McIlroy are all hoping to do the business in Ulster this weekend.

The world-famous Open is being covered around the globe, with pundits from every corner making their way to watch it live.

But one broadcasting team from America got more than they bargained for while live on air.

Dan Hicks and Kevin Kisner were commentating on the action for NBC when disaster struck.

With the rain pouring down and the sun starting to dip, a bat crashed its way into their booth before causing havoc.

Both Hicks and Kisner were left scrambling to stay professional as the bat zipped back and forth.

Kisner hilariously ended up pulling a jacket over his head before ducking under the table.

As for Hicks, he tried to bravely swat away the creature while retaining his composure.

But the commentator could not stop from howling with laughter at the sight of Kisner trembling in fear.

Back in the main studio, Mike Tirico had some fun with it as he narrated the unfolding scene for viewers.

The Open 2025

ONE of the most anticipated Opens in years is finally here.

Tirico said: “Kevin Kisner… this is a man who is a proud hunter. He’s under his jacket, he is spooked by this bat.

“Dan Hicks trying to keep it away from him. You never know what you’re going to get at a major championship. You’re on the air for eight, nine hours.

“Apparently (other people) on the other side were fine and calm. But Kiz has taken cover under his sports coat, the nicest coat.

“Dan has saved his partner and protected him.”

The commentary team then went back on air, with Hicks left laughing at the situation.

He said to Tirico: “I’m telling you Mike, just when you think you’ve seen it all.

“This bat did 20 laps around this tower, it looked like he was looking for a place to land.

“Maybe it just wanted to get out of the rain. I was (protecting Kiz).

“The great outdoorsman, Kevin Kisner, hiding underneath the set.”
