He later was pronounced dead at the hospital.
In the call first obtained by TMZ, an operator can be heard saying on the line that the emergency was for a “cardiac arrest.”
Paramedics spent 30 minutes performing CPR on Hogan at his $11.5 million estate in Clearwater, Florida, before rushing him to the hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 11:17am local time and his family said he died surrounded by his loved ones.
Police said in a press conference that no foul play was suspected in his death.
Hogan’s official cause of death was not immediately released.
Last month, rumors circulated that claimed Hogan was facing serious health issues after a hospitalization.
He had also just undergone neck surgery earlier this year.
The WWE confirmed his death on Thursday.
“One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s,” the company wrote on X.
“WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Hogan, known for his charismatic All-American character, has been hailed as a trailblazer in the sports entertainment world.
One of his first title reigns spanned 1,474 days.
He faced off against Andre the Giant, a character dubbed the Eighth Wonder of the World, at Wrestlemania III in the Pontiac Silverdome in 1987.
Hogan’s bodyslam remains an iconic WrestleMania moment almost 40 years on.
Hogan headlined eight of the first nine WrestleManias during the 1980s and 1990s.
TRIBUTES POUR IN
Current and former WWE wrestlers have paid their own tributes to Hogan.
Legendary wrestler Ric Flair said his friendship with Hogan meant the world to him.
“He was always there for me even when I didn’t ask for him to be,” he wrote online
“He was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with a 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside.
“Hulk also lent me money when Reid was sick. Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you! Rest in peace, my friend!”
Flair’s son, Reid, died in 2013 at the age of 25.
Paul Levesque, who is best known by his ring name Triple H, praised Hogan for transcending the pro-wrestling business.
“WWE would not be where it is today without the larger-than-life characters that compete in the ring … and few, if any, loomed larger than Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea,” Levesque wrote on X.
“He was the archetype of what it meant to be a ‘Superstar’ – a global sensation that inspired millions to work hard at whatever it was they wanted to accomplish and a look that made him recognizable to fans around the world.
“Hulk Hogan, clad in red and yellow or nWo black and white, was simply put, iconic.
“As a Real American or the leader of one of the industry’s biggest factions, he transcended and elevated the entire business to heights never before seen – in every country and on every continent.
“There was no one like The Hulkster and there very well may never be another. My family sends their condolences to his family, friends, and fans.”
John Cena, current WWE champion, shared a photo of Andre and Hogan’s clash as he paid tribute on his Instagram Stories.
President Donald Trump also commented on his death.
