FORMER Manchester United star Quinton Fortune has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo would “jump at the chance” to become a part-owner at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo enjoyed seven years in Manchester across two separate spells.

In his first stint at the club, he won the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

He then spent nine years at Real Madrid followed by a three-season spell with Juventus before returning to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo scored 27 goals in 55 appearances for Man Utd on his return but was banished from the squad after clashing with then-manager Erik ten Hag and subsequently joined Al-Nassr as a free agent.

Despite his unsavoury exit from the club, the forward’s ex-team-mate Fortune has claimed that he would be happy to return one day.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League betting, the ex-United midfielder said: “Could Cristiano Ronaldo be a coach? I think he could do anything he puts his mind to.

“We’ve seen it first hand during his career.

“At Manchester United I could see him as a part owner, he’s done incredible things in football and also financially, anything is possible because he loves the club.

“The club still loves him with the amazing memories he created there, if he got an opportunity behind the scenes I think he’d jump to be a part of it.”

Ronaldo’s future is currently in limbo, with his Al-Nassr contract set to expire next month.

He allegedly received a huge offer from an unnamed Brazilian side earlier this month which could see him play in the upcoming Club World Cup should he accept.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have endured a horror season.

The Red Devils could finish as low as 17th in the Premier League table come the final day of the campaign on Sunday.

They also missed out on the Europa League title following a 1-0 loss to Tottenham on Wednesday.

Fans have become increasingly upset as a result, with club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming under fire.

The mood is currently understood to be very low behind the scenes at Old Trafford and Carrington.

Fortune believes that club legend and notorious hard man Roy Keane should return as a coach in order to help boost the players.

He continued: “We talk about Roy Keane’s enthusiasm, but we also need to talk about his knowledge of the game. He understands the culture of Manchester United.

“He was the captain for so many years and if you speak to any player that played with Roy Keane, he’ll tell you that Keane was an amazing player as well as a leader.

“He drove the team every single day. For me, it would be a no-brainer for me to have Keane as a coach there – it would make a big difference to the team.

“Of course he would have to want to do it, but if he did then it’s a no brainer. The players would be very fortunate to have him as a coach.

“He might have to change his nature slightly for modern players, but with his knowledge and drive, it would work very well.”

The former United star also claimed that the Red Devils would never have fallen so far under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fortune concluded: “A season like this could never have happened under Sir Alex Ferguson, it wasn’t in the nature of the man.

“He was ruthless in terms of wanting to win every single day. If you look at his team it showed that. He had Roy Keane who was his leader on the pitch, having Roy was almost like having Sir Alex playing with us.

“Roy was driving the standards in training and the squad was so blessed. We had Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Nicky Butt, Dennis Irwin, Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar, you can go on and on.

“He built a team with amazing talent who wouldn’t let standards drop, what people saw on a Saturday at Old Trafford was happening all week, that dedication to perform.

“That’s the standards Sir Alex kept and the culture was on and off the pitch, we celebrated winning titles but never took our foot off the pedal, it was relentless. There were no easy days but it was an absolute joy.”
