A HIPPY daughter tormented her 93-year-old mum when she was cut from a £3million fortune – after previously splurging her cash on a “guru”.

Hayla Oriel, 57, was not trusted with her share of the money from the sale of Hilda Maunsell’s manor home in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

The yoga teacher launched into a campaign of harassment – bombarding her elderly mum with calls and emails.

Oriel also showed up at the family home and repeatedly banged on windows and doors – causing Hilda to flee to her neighbours‘ house.

She has now been barred from visiting her mum’s new home following a hearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecution dropped a charge of harassment without violence in return for Oriel taking the five-year restraining order.

JPs heard Hilda had sold the £3,325,000 home and split the proceeds between her children.

But Oriel was not handed her share of the cash because she had spent money on her spiritual “guru” Tony Samara in the past.

Samara, 60, calls himself “a mystic and spiritual teacher” who “offers profound teachings that resonate with the essence of love, wisdom and divine union”.

Oriel previously branded his teachings, which include a 40-day fast in Costa Rica, as “amazing”.

Prosecutor Ryan Seneviratne said Hilda was harassed between February 1, 2020, and March 18, 2021.

This included making “personal visits”, repeated phone calls and visiting places where Oriel knew her mum would be.

Speaking about the impact on Hilda, Mr Seneviratne said: “She indicated, ‘I’m 93 years of age, I hope to live longer than that, but in the event that I don’t, it means that I’m protected from having her turn up at my property in that time’.”

The prosecutor clarified that she was not asking for there to be no contact between herself and her daughter but for allowing her new home to become a “place of safety”.

He continued: “She doesn’t want to be divorced forever from Miss Oriel, she hopes they can speak on the telephone, by email, and that hopefully they will be able to meet in person again one day soon.”

Oriel admitted her communication was “persistent, intentional and caused frustration”.

Her lawyer Jag Phull said she suffers from anxiety, depression and vertigo.

He added: “The offence of harassment is there to protect individuals from serious, frightening or threatening conduct.

“It’s not there to criminalise missteps in family relationships or where boundaries have been overstepped by a daughter to her mother.”
