He can be seen frantically trying to pull the Bully off the five-year-old cat, before trying to tell her owner she’s OK.
But to Nima Begum’s devastation, her family’s beloved pet Kiwi was dead just minutes later.
It comes as Rishi Sunak vowed to ban American bully XL dogs following a spate of fatal and serious attacks by the breed.
The horror attack unfolded in Nima’s Norwich, Norfolk garden last Saturday.
The mum-of-five said she’d been just getting ready to take her three-year-old son for an ice cream when she heard yelling from outside.
Looking out her upstairs window she caught a glimpse of a man struggling to get ahold of a massive dog.
The hound’s mouth was covered in blood, and its owner started profusely apologising, saying: “Your cat is fine.”
Tragically, Nima got downstairs to find her beloved Kiwi “ripped to pieces”.
She said the family cat died just moments later in her daughter’s arms.
The heartbroken mum recalled last weekend: “It all happened in seconds.
“I was absolutely frightened and my cat was ripped into pieces.
“I have seen that dog off the lead every day for a few months. It could have been the dog attacking my three-year-old boy.
“My biggest worry is not just about my child, but for the school nearby. I am so scared to take my boy to the nursery across the road.”
Kiwi had kittens just a few months before and one of them named Peppercorn, which the family kept, managed to escape the hound’s attack.
However, she said her children had still been left traumatised by losing their beloved pet.
Norfolk Police said it was probing the vicious attack.
It comes just days after a man was killed by an XL Bully.
Ian “Scouse” Langley, 54, was protecting his puppy when the animal pounced on him outside a home in Sunderland on Tuesday night.
He was rushed to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries but sadly couldn’t be saved and died.
