POLICE are hunting for a man who allegedly tried to snatch a schoolgirl from the street and drag her into his car.
The 14-year-old girl was on her way to school when the suspect is said to have tried to grab her along a Birmingham beauty spot.
The incident took place near Faulkners Farm Drive in Erdington earlier today
The girl’s mother posted on social media saying her daughter was “really shaken up” after the alleged incident.
She said: “This world is sickening. My daughter was almost abducted and dragged into a car this morning on the way to school.
“Lucky she managed to get away and return home safely.
“Feds best find him before he approaches someone else who won’t be so lucky. Feeling sick.”
The incident took place at around 8.45am near Faulkners Farm Drive in Erdington.
The teen’s aunt also posted online saying: “So some man tried to abduct my 14-year-old niece this morning on Faulkners Farm Drive, Erdington.
“But luckily she managed to get away. Can everyone share this so people know because another girl might not be so lucky.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirmed they are investigating the claims and are looking for a suspect.
They said: “We are investigating following an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl near Witton Lakes Park.
“We were called to reports that a man had tried to abduct a girl near Faulkners Farm Drive in Erdington, at around 8.45 this morning, before she managed to run away.
“Our investigators are working to establish the full details and identify who was responsible.
“Thankfully, the girl was uninjured and is safe.”
They have appealed for information from the public and are looking to speak to any witnesses.
