A MAN has been shot dead by police in broad daylight who were responding to reports of a person carrying a firearm.
Cops swooped to the scene at Milton Keynes railway station this afternoon at 12.55pm after reports of a gunman.
Roads were closed off and a police helicopter was overheard by those in the area.
There was a big police presence just before 1pm today before passersby heard a gunshot, according to the Citizen newspaper.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson told the publication: “Officers from Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police were called to reports of a man carrying a firearm at Milton Keynes railway station, Elder Gate, at 12.55pm today (Monday April 1).
“Armed officers from Thames Valley Police responded and challenged the man, before shots were fired by police.
“Life-saving actions were immediately taken at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at 1.44pm.”
