THREE people were left injured after a man was seen wielding a crossbow in broad daylight today.

Officers raced to the scene in Headingley, Leeds, shortly before 3pm.

Cops were called to reports of a man carrying weapons, one of which was a crossbow, it has been confirmed.

Police cars were seen blocking off the area, best known for the famous Otley Run, bar crawl, popular among students.

Locals also reported being taken off buses due to a road closure between Arndale and Woodies pub in Headingley.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Otley Road, Leeds at 2.47pm today to reports of an ongoing serious incident involving a man seen with weapons.

“Officers attended and located three people who had suffered injuries which are at this time not being treated as life threatening.”

Otley Road is in the centre of Headingley, the Otley Run is one of the most famous bar crawls in the UK.

Various locals also reported seeing a large police presence in the area amid claims of a serious incident.

A man was detained at the scene as enquiries continue.
