Horror as schoolgirl is ‘attacked while playing in park by man, 40’ before being rushed to hospital

A GIRL has allegedly been assaulted in a park, with police calling for witnesses to come forward.

The 12-year-old was at Dorothy Avenue Playing Field – also known as Bluebell Park – in Glen Parva, Leicestershire.

Police said they received reports that a girl was being assaulted by a man at 5pm on April 15.

She was rushed to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of assault.

Police said he is still in custody as they continue to investigate.

Cops asked for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “We are asking for anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

“We would also ask the local community to work with us by ensuring that only information which is known to be true is being shared including on social media.”
