A TWO-year-old boy has been left with “serious injuries” and fighting for his life after being hit by a car.

The horror crash happened on Garstang Road in the Fulwood area of Preston yesterday morning.

Emergency services including Lancashire Police, North West Ambulance Service and North West Air Ambulance all attended the scene with the child being airlifted to hospital.

The road was closed for several hours near to the junction with The Triangle, shortly after 11am.

Police said the boy suffered “serious injuries” and had been airlifted to hospital.

No arrests have been reported.

Cops have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward, or anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage.

Preston Police said in a statement on Facebook last night: “You may have seen an increased police presence in the Fulwood area this morning, and we want to let you know why.

“At 11.09am today, we were called by the ambulance service to a report of a road traffic collision on Garstang Road in Fulwood, near to the junction with The Triangle.

“Officers attended and found that a car had collided with a child.

“The boy, who is 2 years old, was airlifted to hospital having sustained serious injuries.”

Sgt Matt Davidson, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said “First and foremost our thoughts remain with the family of the boy and all those affected by the collision today.

“I am now appealing to you, the public, to ask that if you witnessed this collision, or have any dashcam or CCTV footage from Garstang Road or the surrounding areas between 11am and 11.15am this morning, to please get in contact.”
