Horror as woman is ‘dragged out of her car before being attacked and sexually assaulted by gang’

HORROR struck as a woman was dragged out of her car before being attacked and sexually assaulted by a gang.

Six people have been arrested in Oxfordshire after the incident occurred in Banbury on the evening of Tuesday October 22.

Thames Valley Police said a black saloon car had pulled up to pick up a man on Boxhedge Road near the roundabout on Belgrave Crescent.

It was then that a number of both men and women allegedly pulled up in a white hatchback vehicle.

The gang had followed the man to the location, according to officers.

The group then allegedly dragged a woman out of the car that they were tailing, Thames Valley Police said on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said that she was then repeatedly assaulted while also touched inappropriately over her clothing.

They added that the group also made threats towards her.

While the man who got into the black car, and another man, went to defend the woman, they too were then assaulted.

It is also believed that a number of weapons were used during the assault.

Six arrests have subsequently been made with three men and two women all apprehended by the force.

All six of these suspects have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Connie Palfrey, said: “This was a concerning incident and we have made a number of arrests following this incident.

“We have been conducting thorough enquiries into this incident and following a number of lines of enquiry and we believe that the parties involved in this incident are known to each other, as such we do not believe there to be a threat to the wider public.

“We are aware that two men who were walking by and stopped at the scene to try and help, and we are aware that silver hatchback, a black estate, a red Mini and a white VW polo or similar also passed the scene.

“Additionally a small blue SUV style vehicle also sounded its horn.

“We would ask all of these motorists and the two men who stopped on foot to please come forward.
