THIS was the horror moment a glass-bottomed walkway shattered, sending a tourist plunging to their death.

The tragedy took place when 11 tourists were crossing The Geong bridge in Indonesia around 10am on Wednesday – some 30ft off the forest floor.

The Geong is a popular glass bridge that appears to be held up by two giant golden hands.

Suddenly, the glass panels beneath their feet gave way, causing four of them to fall through.

A witness recalled hearing what sounded like glass breaking at around 10am, local media reports.

Two fell through the glass into the Limpakuwus Pine Forest below, where one was later declared dead.

The other tourist sustained minor injuries.

Onlookers shared terrifying footage of two more people who managed to cling on to the frame, after being thrown by the sudden collapse.

Cops are now investigating and have set up a crime scene.

It comes amid claims that the attraction’s management overlooked complaints about the bridge’s safety.

Ekop Purnomo, chairman of the Limpakuwus Pine Forest Cooperative, had contacted The Geong’s manager in April when the bridge opened, seeking a safety evaluation, The Jakarta Post reports.

He said he approached The Geong’s manager after receiving complaints on social media, raising concerns about how safe the bridge would be.

Purnomo claimed as many as five per cent of visitors shared complaints online.

He added that the manager of the bridge chose not to attend the meeting to review standards, instead sending a representative.

“There was no discussion. We only left a message,” he said on Wednesday.

Purnomo agreed to close the forest – which is managed separately from The Geong bridge – at the request of local police while the investigation continues.

Earlier this month, in China, a woman was wiped out on a theme park water ride after being flung out of a capsized raft.

Footage showed the thrillseeker screaming in panic as another boat hurtled towards her in China.

The chaotic scene first shows a woman clinging to an upturned raft and wrapping her arms round a small child.

An oncoming boat then thumps into the two, knocking them further down the glass passage.

Unable to stop themselves from being pushed along the waterside, the woman is seen cradling the child as she tries to hold onto the boat behind them.
