SONDAD (4.40 Ascot, nap)
This consistent four-year-old is trained by father and son team Mick and David Easterby. And the links don’t end there with Mick’s talented grand-daughter Joanna Mason in the saddle. The Yorkshire team have every chance of landing this nice prize with Sondad progressing nicely right through this season. He scored here in May before following up with a classy handicap win on Derby day at Epsom. Then came another fine effort over today’s course and distance before arguably his best effort of the season last time out. That came in the red-hot Silver Cup at Ayr. He was an excellent second there and the first home on his side of the track. He wasn’t helped by having to come from a mile back but he showed a good turn of foot once fully wound up.
NOVELISTA (2.55 Ascot, nb)
He’s done really well this season since being upped to staying trips and was impressive at Goodwood two runs ago. He didn’t enjoy Musselburgh quite so much last time but can bounce back here over his favourite distance.
ARABIAN FORCE (4.05 Ascot, treble)
Was beaten just a length in the Great Voltigeur at York last time and may have won in a few more strides. He should have too much class down in Listed company for Tom Marquand and William Haggas.
MCGREGORS CHARGE (5.37 Hexham, Lucky 15)
Ran another good race when second at Newton Abbot latest. He has winning chase form over this trip and looks on a fair handicap mark. He completes the Lucky 15.
