TEMPLEGATE tackles Thursday’s racing confident of bulding the bank ahead of a truly massive day at Sandown on Saturday.

RONNIES RULES (5.10 Bangor, nap)

Dan Skelton’s six-year-old was prolific in bumpers, winning three times and looking a really nice prospect for going hurdling. His first two spins over timber didn’t quite go to plan with unlucky unseats each time. He got his act together in great style at Ffos Las seven days ago when winning without really coming off the bridle. Skelton keeps him in the same company here and he gets on with amateur rider Ben Sutton who takes off a valuable 5lb.

CEOLWULF (2.05 Warwick, nb)

He had been knocking on the door before getting his deserved first chase win here last time. He stayed on really strongly over the 2m4f distance so should relish this stiffer test of stamina. A 4lb rise in the weights is fair and there’s more to come.

INNS OF FEAR (6.25 Chelmsford, treble)

He ran well a couple of times in Ireland was a neck away from getting off the mark for his new connections at Newcastle last time. He doesn’t need a lot more.

MAGIC MCCOLGAN (1.55 Perth, Lucky 15)

Willie Mullins’ mare will find this a lot easier than the Dawn Run she ran in at Cheltenham last time.
