LERWICK (6.00 Kempton, nap)
Enjoyed dropping back to this 7f trip when just denied at Newcastle 12 days ago. He hit the front and looked like the winner only to be chinned in the final few yards. He should be suited by the shorter straight here and stays in the same grade. A repeat of that last run should be good enough for Ed Bethell’s five-year old to land another success.
ART OF DIPLOMACY (2.45 Wetherby, nb)
Has shown lots of promise on three starts since going chasing. He was asked to make up far too much ground when third at Wetherby last time and it’s a wise move to step up in distance here. His handicap mark is coming down and this looks a good chance to strike.
JACKPOT CASH (2.25 Bangor, treble)
He got his act together when winning a Southwell hurdle last week on debut for excellent trainer James Owen. His jumping has been the issue over these bigger obstacles but his top-class new handler is likely to have sorted that before this return.
LADRONNE (4.28 Wetherby, Lucky 15)
He was fourth in a much stronger contest over 2m4f here last time and this longer trip could well help. Dropping in grade from a plunging handicap mark mean this is an excellent winning chance.
