PRESIDENT Joe Biden insisted his memory “is fine” during a surprise address to the nation on Thursday night.

The emotional speech came just hours after it was ruled he will not face criminal charges over keeping secret documents — as prosecutors say he is “an elderly man with a poor memory”.

Even with Biden insisting his memory is fine, reporters still challenged him on this considering the special counsel let him go from the charges due to his memory.

But Biden snapped back and said he believes he is the most qualified person to serve as president.

Biden also highlighted how the special counsel claimed his memory was so bad that he forgot the death of his son, Beau, and got emotional over the comment.

He questioned why the special counsel would deny his fine memory.

“I don’t need anyone, anyone, to remind me when he passed away,” Biden said of the special counsel’s report.

“How dare he raise that.

“I know what the hell I’m doing.

“My memory is fine, take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve been president.”

Biden began the press conference by saying, “I was pleased to see it reached a firm conclusion, that no charges should be brought against me in this case.”

“This was an exhaustive investigation dating back 40 years …”

“I cooperated completely, didn’t throw up any roadblocks.”

The special counsel declared, “The decision to decline criminal charges was straightforward.”

AVOIDS TRIAL

The special counsel declared Biden would not face criminal charges and avoid a trial over keeping secret documents earlier in the day on Thursday.

The decision comes following a special counsel report that confirmed Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials” while Vice President.

Biden will not face charges though after mixing up dates from when he served as VP and the year Beau died, according to the special counsel’s report.

The mix-up proved that he is a “well-meaning elderly man.”

“At trial, Mr Biden would likely present himself to a jury as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” special counsel Robert Hur said.

During the address to the nation, Biden said he did not share the classified information.

“I did not share classified information. I did not share it with my ghostwriter,” Biden said.

“I’ve seen headlines since the report was released about my willful retention of documents.

“This assertion is not only misleading, it’s just plain wrong.

FIVE HOUR INTERVIEW

Biden also highlighted how he did five hours of in-person interviews with the special counsel in the midst of an international crisis which may have hindered his memory.

“I was in the middle of handling an international crisis,” Biden said referring to the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s October attack on Israel.

“The simple truth is that I sat for five hours, two days, over events going back 40 years. At the same time, I was managing a national crisis.

“I just believed that’s what I owed the American people so they could know no charges would be brought and the matter closed,” Biden said.
