SKY SPORTS have broadcast every shot thrown at the World Darts Championship – and have only missed the dart a handful of times.

That is because they employ eagle-eyed spotters to help inform the cameraman where to film.

Darts stars often make split second decisions when throwing their arrows, often panning down from treble 20 to treble 19 and even on occasion back up to treble 18.

That is just one tricky test facing the camera team, as players can go for all sorts of combinations when trying to check out a finish.

That’s why expert spotters are on hand, as they can identify what shot is likely coming next.

They examine the players’ body language, where their eyes are looking and they calculate the total points needed to work out where the player may target.

One spotter took fans behind the scenes to show how it is all done.

With microphone in hand, he could be seen passing over instructions to his colleagues, telling them exactly which number to focus their cameras on.

Fans were left impressed by the speed and skill needed to carry out such a task.

One reacted saying: “Don’t think people understand how good you have to be to do this. Underrated skill.”
