A HUGE blaze has erupted near a college with firefighters from four counties racing to the “major incident”.
Thames Valley Police confirmed a large fire broke out in woodland behind Newbury College, in Berkshire, at around 3.55pm.

Residents have been warned to stay inside, with their doors and windows closed.
Crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are tackling flames at the scene, in woodland along Monks Lane A339.
Officers and a 4×4 from Crowthorne Fire Station were also called in to assist.
Drivers have been advised the area, as the road has been shut down at the junction with the A339 and A343.
A TVP spokesperson said: “A Major Incident has been declared in Newbury due to a large fire near to Newbury College and the A339.”
“We would urge people in the area to keep doors and windows closed and the public to avoid the area.”
A statement from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “At 3:55pm on Friday, 11 July, we received reports of a fire in the open on Monks Lane in Newbury.
“Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury and Mortimer fire stations have been sent to the scene alongside two Officers and a 4×4 from Crowthorne Fire Station.
“Upon arrival, crews discovered a large fire in the open. Firefighters remain at the scene of the incident at this time.”
In an update from TVP, the force confirmed: “The fire near to Newbury College is now under control and the roads nearby will re-open shortly.
“There have not been any injuries, and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while our colleagues at Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the blaze.”
This is the second major fire in Newbury today after an earlier car blaze at Newbury Retail Park.
