Two-thirds believe the Government has been “too soft” in its asylum policy while half say recent protests at hotels have been justified.

At the end of March, 32,345 asylum seekers were housed in hotels, costing about £5.77million a day, according to Home Office figures.
James Johnson, co-founder of pollsters JL Partners, said their new findings showed patience was at breaking point.
He said: “The public seem thoroughly fed up with the asylum hotels policy.”
Tory Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick backed peaceful protests, saying it will “pressure the Government to take the necessary measures”.
Under new plans, migrants could be put in warehouses to accelerate the end of costly hotels and contain mounting public anger.
The Government also says it took immediate action to “fix” the problem.
A spokesperson said: “Since taking office, we have taken immediate action to fix the asylum system and have started closing down hotels and returning more than 35,000 people with no right to be here.
“From over 400 asylum hotels open in summer 2023, costing almost £9 million a day, there are now fewer than 210, and we want them all closed by the end of this Parliament.
“We will continue to work closely with community partners across the country, and discuss any concerns they have, as we look to fix this broken system together.
“The security of the local communities within which hotels are located will always be our paramount concern.”
