Kigali’s Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe said the country was in the “early stages” of negotiations.

Rwanda has confirmed it is talking with Donald Trump about taking America’s deported migrantsAP

At least one illegal migrant has already been sent to the east African country, US media reported last month.

A removals deal with Rwanda would trigger questions as to why Sir Keir Starmer so quickly axed Britain’s equivalent upon coming to power.

The PM branded the Tory-launched scheme a “gimmick” that cost £700million but got bogged down in legal battles.

Ex-Home Secretary Suella Braverman previously said a US-Rwanda deal would be “humiliating” for Labour.

Speaking to Rwandan TV, Mr Nduhungirehe said his government was in the “spirit” of giving “another chance to migrants who have problems across the world”.

Mr Trump’s mass deportations has already seen him remove many illegal arrivals to El Salvador.
