He was expected to dominate and did despite dropping a set, but his performance may instead be remembered for Littler showing off a different side to his character.
The Nuke was much more animated on stage than in his previous match and he later revealed he has a ruthless streak.

He responded to losing the third set by winning the fourth, and after hitting double ten he roared and pumped his fists.
Littler, 17, showed he has an edge and he explained he is not always a nice person, particularly at the oche.
He said: “I am not a nice person at times on the board. I don’t think anyone else is. But it’s always good to have that a bit of aggression.
“It’s good for myself to show that I can be ruthless. Ian has been around for many years. He played my granddad. But for myself, it’s good to be ruthless, especially on that last dart as many people do see.”
Littler recovered from a slow start to smash home TWELVE 180s and clinch victory with a 97.84 average.
After the match, he admitted that he was struggling with the double ten and 20.
The world number four insisted that he “didn’t like” them and joked that they felt the same towards him.
He told Sky Sports: “It was tough. Ian [White] threw everything at me.
“If I hit a 180, he would hit back with one, too. I had to stay switched on.
“I didn’t have nerves. I had to settle in quickly. The first set was okay. The second set after the first break, I was up for it.
“At 3-1, the 70 was massive. I don’t think double ten or double 20 like me – and I don’t like them.
“The crowd were good for me and Ian. If they chant Ian White’s name, I will hit a 180.
“I know I have got to hit those doubles, 35 per cent tonight won’t get me anywhere. I need to get those doubles.”
