A pal sent him the clip, which is on Hamas’ Telegram site.
He said: “I recognised him instantly thanks to his blond hair and said, ‘Oh my god! They’ve got my brother’.”
US-based Uriel took the first flight to Jerusalem to join his family.
Elkana, a married dad, runs a Tel Aviv ice-cream shop.
Uriel said: “When we realised Hamas were attacking we called Elkana and he told our mum; I’m OK and I’m just helping people to get out of here.
“I know my brother and he would never leave anyone behind – and I think that’s why they caught him.
“At least we have this video which is a sign of life.
“Then I saw the video on Telegram. My friend called and sent it to me. I was in San Francisco when I watched it.
“I recognised him instantly because of his blonde hair and thought ‘oh my god, they’ve got my brother’
“I want to show the world his face. I want to bring him home.
“We’re scared and our mother is totally broken but he is strong and I know he will be patient and to believe the world is watching.”
Brother Jacob, 35, said: “Our mother is sobbing in bed holding his shirt. We are losing our minds.”
