The Mobile Civic Center in south Alabama has been left without a roof due to the adverse weather.

Mobile saw 7.5 inches of snow on Tuesday, which broke all records for snow in the area since 1895.

Pictures show the stadium looking unrecognizable as the rook has collapsed into the arena.

Fortunately, the collapse has not caused much disruption as the stadium was already being demolished.

Another positive for the city officials is that the collapse did not damage any of the mosaic tile murals.

A city official has confirmed that the roof “fell in the way they wanted it to”.

A statement read: “Earlier this morning, the roof of the Mobile Civic Center collapsed under the weight of excessive snow.

“The collapse occurred in a manner consistent with the plans for the building’s ongoing demolition.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the mosaic murals were undamaged.”

The arena is being removed to make way for a new modern stadium and was closed in August 2024.

It is expected that the construction will be completed by 2027.

It will see new features such as retail spaces, luxury suites, VIP club, premium seating and dynamic acoustics.

It is claimed that there will be flexible seating and layout options.

This could see up to 10,000 spectators and fans be housed in small and larger events.
