The deal will see the Browns move from their current home at Huntington Bank Field.

A new state-of-the-art, $2.4billion stadium is set for construction in the Cleveland suburbs.

The Browns plan to build on a plot of land near the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

And as part of the deal, Huntington Bank Field – which opened in 1999 – will be demolished.

The Browns will give the city $100m towards renovating the site after the stadium is flattened.

The cost of the demolition is estimated to be $30m, and the Browns owners will also pay Cleveland $5m annually from 2029 through 2033.

Contributions of $2m per year will run 2029 through 2038 for “community benefit projects”.

The new stadium is planned for Brook Park and is located around 15 miles south of downtown Cleveland.

“Excellent news! This new stadium design is gorgeous!” replied one delighted fan.

“Wow I remember the franchise been revived in 1999/2000 with Tim couch. That stadium is barely 27 years old,” gasped another.

“NFL stadiums don’t last very long these days, do they?” sighed a third.

“Almost every stadium in the NFL is going to be indoors by 2050,” predicted a fourth.

Speaking Monday, Cleveland Mayor Bibb suggested the deal was right for both the city and the team.

“This $100m investment continues our lakefront momentum and economic resurgence,” he said.

“This agreement puts the lakefront on the path to transformational development and the Browns on the path to a world-class facility in Brook Park.

“This is the right solution for the city and the region.”

The Browns are set to pay $1.2bn towards the cost of the new stadium.

A further $600million will be funded by the state, with the new home slated for opening in 2029 after the lease runs out at Huntington Bank.

On the field, it’s been a dismal start to the 2025 campaign for the Browns.

Cleveland are currently bottom of the AFC North and sitting 1-5 after six games.

They have traded veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to the Bengals, with rookie Dillon Gabriel now under center.
