Jones, 37, initially demanded “f**k you money for the mammoth melee but recently came to terms with the UFC brass.

Aspinall held talks with the UFC‘s Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell, earlier this month to discuss the bout and has suggested the biggest fight in the history of UK MMA is on the brink of coming to fruition.

During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, he said: “We had a nice meal and we talked everything through.

“Hunter has always been extremely personable and reasonable with me. I can’t say what he’s like with other people, I don’t know

“But with me and my team, he’s been nothing but hospitable and fantastic.

“We had a fantastic meeting, everything went amazing.

“I understand my position now, I understand what the company’s doing now, and you’ve got to stay tuned because there’s some big news coming.”

Aspinall’s comments on his meeting with Campbell came just days after UFC bigwig Dana White claimed the fight is “done”.

The veteran promoter, 55, told TNT Sports: “It’s going to happen. “It’s done, but it’s not done.

“Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date.

“But fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.

“If we pull this off and actually make the fight, announce it and start leading up to it, this will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history.”

Hall-of-Famer Jones hasn’t fought since retaining his undisputed title with a stunning spinning-back kick stoppage of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.

Aspinall, meanwhile, was last in action last July at UFC 304 in Manchester, where he stopped Curtis Blaydes in just 60 seconds of their rematch to retain his interim strap.
