Impartially, I call these medieval killers Hamas terrorists – so why won’t the BBC?

THE savagery and barbarism of Hamas’s slaughter of innocent Israeli civilians has shocked the Western world.

We have long known that Hamas is an evil organisation. That’s why so many countries, including our own and the United States, have it classified as a terrorist group.

Even before Saturday’s carnage, Hamas had been sending countless missiles into Israel from Gaza. As well as sending out its agents to stab as many Israelis as possible.

This is an organisation which ALWAYS targets civilians, and does so happily. It is, then, the very essence of what we would call “terrorist”.

So why, then, won’t the BBC call its medieval murderers “terrorists”?

I have grown increasingly worried by the BBC’s coverage of the events both in Israel and Gaza.

Sure, there are some good and brave reporters out there and we are grateful for their dispatches.

But the BBC is Left-leaning. It has long had a sympathy with the Palestinian cause.

Hell, I can remember one of their foreign correspondents, Barbara Plett, actually CRYING when that grizzled old terrorist, Yasser Arafat, was dying.

But it’s all got much worse since then. The BBC refers to Hamas as “militants”. As if they were simply mischievous little imps who could be a bit naughty from time to time.

Not people who decapitate babies, then.

The venerable foreign correspondent, John Simpson, in a very pompous tweet, defended the BBC’s refusal to call Hamas terrorists.

He said: “British politicians know perfectly well why the BBC avoids the word ‘terrorist’, and over the years plenty of them have privately agreed with it. Calling someone a terrorist means you’re taking sides and ceasing to treat the situation with due impartiality.”

Innocent civilians

Well, this is factually untrue on many counts.

Firstly it implies that the BBC would never use the word “terrorist”.

But it does, very frequently, when — for example — Islamist maniacs blow people up, or stab them to death, in the UK. And Simpson has used the very word himself to describe such acts.

We don’t want partisan broadcasting, we just want the truth. And whatever way you look at it, Hamas are terrorists.

If ever there was proof of that, just look at what happened on Saturday morning. But it’s not just that. I listened to Saturday PM on Radio 4. The presenter, Caroline Wyatt, interviewed two Palestinian women.

One of them was in the West Bank. The other was in Gaza and worked for a non-governmental organisation.

All we heard from these two women was how hard life was going to be for them. And how Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the Palestinian Authority should present a united front against Israel.

At no time were either of them asked if they approved of Hamas’s murderous incursion.

They were just asked if they were OK. And how would they cope over the coming days. Remarkable.

This was just hours after Hamas had launched its attack.

If it had been Israel invading Gaza and deliberately murdering innocent civilians by the score — actually targeting them — I think the Beeb’s approach would have been very different, no?

So that’s all we want, Mr Simpson. A bit of truth. And a little bit of balance when it comes to reporting what happens on either side.

BORO’S WHERE IT’S AT

I SEE my hometown, Middlesbrough, is near the top of a list as being the best place for people to buy a first home.

Halifax and Hull are right up there, too. It makes sense. Boro is a great place and alongside some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

What’s more, you can buy a house for about the price of a battered sausage and chips with curry sauce.

This is the point about our housing crisis. We don’t really have one.

There are more than enough houses for everyone. It’s just that some are in the North of England. And people would rather live in the South.

You don’t know what you’re missing, you southerners.

Keir did OK…but Labour’s usual idiots are still lurking

IT was a decent speech by Sir Keir Starmer at the Labour Party Conference.

He’s not a born orator, sure. But he came across as sensible, managerial and, at times, even, er, dynamic.

He also deserved credit for his support for Israel. But don’t think he has purged the party entirely of the anti-Semites, who were in charge when Jeremy Corbyn was boss.

Away from the podium there were still the usual idiots flogging Palestinian flags and badges.

Just remember, if you’re thinking of voting Labour, those horrible people are still there, biding their time.

ELITE IN OZ FACE DEFEAT

THE Australians are facing their “Brexit Moment”.

That’s what they’re calling a referendum, which will give more rights to Aborigines.

It was thought that the referendum would sail through. But that’s because the liberal metropolitan elite lives in a bubble where everyone agrees with them.

The latest opinion polls suggest that only 29 per cent of Aussies will vote for the ludicrous bill.

In fact, quite a lot of Aborigines think it’s awful. They don’t want to be treated as victims by a condescending, white, middle-class elite.

ROBIN’S WORTH HIS SALT

GET the doughnuts out, defrost those crispy pancakes.

It seems that ultra- processed food (UPF) isn’t necessarily bad for you.

Robin May, the chief scientific officer at the UK Food Standards Agency, said the furore against UPF was not driven by science and might well be a knee-jerk reaction.

Further, people who cut out all UPF might find themselves eating a markedly less healthy diet.

This will come as a grave disappointment to the lichen-munching lefties who believe that UPF is part of a plan by Big Business to render us all drooling, morbidly obese, imbeciles. And is, therefore, the perfect expression of late capitalism.

It may well be, of course – but it tastes nice and is also quite often good for you.

Now, who will join my drive to get more salt put in our UPFs?

TIME TO GO, BLM

DO you remember how everyone went doolally in 2020 over support for the horrible Black Lives Matter movement?

We even had football pundits wearing BLM badges. And dim-witted coppers taking the knee.

But BLM was never about justice for black people. It was about sowing division and hatred between the races. Oh, and as a money-making scheme for those who started the movement and pocketed vast donations.

That’s why some say BLM stands for Buy Larger Mansions.

Anyway, BLM’s latest stunt is to post an online picture of one of those evil Hamas paragliders, who murdered hundreds of people, with the comment We Stand By Palestine.

Now that we know how vile they are, can we please consign BLM to the garbage dump of history?
