Captain Rohit Sharma‘s side sealed the win with just 11 balls left of their innings as they chased down a total of 264.
But it was the coin toss that set up one of the biggest talking points of the match.
Australia’s Pat Cummins won the toss with a correct call and opted to bat first.
However, in doing so, it meant that India had lost their last 14 coin tosses in a row.
The odds of this happening are an astonishing one in 16,384.
The record started back in the Cricket World Cup final in 2023 when they faced Australia in Ahmedabad.
Fans reacted to the moment in shock at India’s luck on social media.
One posted: “Seems to be working, isn’t it? Good for India.”

A fourth said: “All good as long as we’re winning where it counts.”
Another added: “That’s a tough streak.”
Sharma’s luck at the coin toss may not be great, but he was fortunate during his innings in the match.
He was dropped twice by the fielding side as he scored 28 runs before he was eventually given out for LBW.
Virat Kohli was the pick of the batters as he smashed 84 from 98 to steer India’s score towards the required total.
The topic of lost coin tosses has been picked up on in India.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra insisted that the constant error could prove costly.
He said on his YouTube channel: “Personally I feel that winning the toss is an advantage.
“We haven’t won a single toss thus far.
“Rohit has sworn that he won’t win the toss and won’t lose the match.
“It sounds alright by the toss is a problem.”
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler‘s England were dumped out of the Champions Cup following the seven-wicket loss to South Africa.
England lost all three of their Group B games which led to Buttler’s announcement that he would be stepping down as white-ball captain.
India will play either New Zealand or South Africa in the final on Sunday with their game scheduled for Wednesday in Lahore.
