RACHEL Reeves’ determination to build is music to our ears.
We just hope she and Keir Starmer are steeled for the civil war they may trigger in their own party.

It is refreshing to hear the Chancellor insist growth must trump Net Zero and talk about facing down the blockers.
We need bigger airports, far more homes, businesses, power plants, reservoirs and much more.
“The answer can’t always be no,” Ms Reeves says.
“For a long time when there was a choice between something that would grow the economy and anything else, anything else always won.
“Growth trumps other things.”
The PM intends to limit Nimbys’ powers to scupper development.
Excellent.
Except London Mayor Sadiq Khan is already preparing to legally challenge his own Government over Heathrow.
So is Labour’s Manchester Mayor.
We doubt Net Zero zealot Ed Miliband will cheerlead for the builders either.
But last month’s staggering £17.8billion borrowing — far above OBR forecasts and the result of Labour pouring money into welfare and the public sector — shows how desperately much stronger growth is now needed.
Without it Ms Reeves faces imposing urgent spending cuts and — God forbid — more tax rises.
Both are predicted to send the economy into a “doom loop” making Britain relentlessly poorer.
Too many self-interested Labour MPs still prefer blocking to building.
The Chancellor must impress on them how urgently Britain needs extracting from our paralysis.

Mad about EU
IT is staggering, with growth the No1 priority, to hear the Business Secretary sing a different tune.
Jonathan Reynolds wants “ambitious” talks to align Britain more closely with Brussels’ regulations. Is he mad?

The EU is mostly in worse shape than we are.
Why shackle ourselves to that and jeopardise a historic potential trade deal with the booming US?
We can only assume, in the absence of logic, it’s down to the religious conviction the Left still has about the innate beauty of the Brussels project.
For Britain’s sake, get over it.
Killer’s let-off
AXEL Rudakubana will richly deserve a whole-life term today.
He won’t get one.
ReutersAxel Rudakubana will be sentenced as a 17-year-old rather than an adult[/caption]
He is 18 and was tried as an adult.
But he will be sentenced as the 17-year-old who butchered those girls in Southport.
Rudakubana will get life, with a long minimum term.
But under-18s being spared whole-life orders is a legal anomaly the Government should change.
Some killers commit crimes so heinous they should never taste freedom again regardless of their age, and especially if they are on the very cusp of adulthood.
