AN ITV racing presenter sped off to steal a punter’s pint live on air – after almost gagging on “Britain’s hottest chicken wings”.

Former jockey Luke Harvey found the going heavy after setting himself an unwise challenge while covering races at York.

The heat was on Luke Harvey after this first mouthful

And he couldn’t even get over the hurdle of his first bite.

Harvey then left viewers stunned with his reaction.

But one man was even more shocked than armchair observers – that was the punter whose Guinness Harvey grabbed and downed!

ITV themselves shared a clip of the incident – and admitted their pundit might just have made a bad call this time.

The broadcaster posted: “Maybe this was a mistake. The hottest chicken wings in Great Britain LIVE on ITV.”

Harvey began it all by approaching a food stall and asking if there were indeed no such wings more scorching in the country.

The reply included: “That is essentially true… get your safety goggles out!”

But immediately after his first taste, Harvey made a retching gesture, bent over in discomfort and waved his arms as if panicking.

He promptly dashed off to a table of drinkers.

And spotting a besuited man holding a full pint, he ordered: “Oi, give me that! Give me that! Give me that!”

He needed to demand it three times – because the drink-holder was not only shocked, he was also resistant to releasing his glass.

Harvey was the more determined, however, – as he grabbed it anyway and sunk at least a quarter of it in one go.

Fortunately, by that stage, the Guinness owner had developed a bemused half-smile.

Harvey then staggered off while confirming his verdict on the wings: “They are hot! They are hot, I’m telling you.”

He strolled further away insisting: “I’m going home”.

But in the end Harvey settled for stooping over a nearby bin, where he wiped his forehead gingerly with a paper towel as he still clutched his microphone .

At last, by now, he was getting sympathy from his ITV colleagues.

That led to a plea from a co-broadcaster: “Oh dear, poor, poor Luke – go and get that man another beer please… I think it’s fair to say – pray for Luke.”

One fan responded on X: “Performance of the Day: Luke Harvey who despite sweaty up and bolting sees out the ‘trip’. “

But another focused on the man holding onto his Guinness as he wrote: ” It will be £8 quid a pint and a 10 minute queue – no wonder he didn’t want to part with it.”

And a third said of Harvey: “Hope he didn’t dodge his round on the Guinness.”

Meanwhile, many joked that the racing expert was lucky he knew the incident was live on TV – or else he might not have got away with ‘stealing’ the beer.
