An 8-3 victory over Adam Lipscombe saw Anderson claim his 30th PDC Ranking title.
The Scot was over the moon to have ended his eight-month wait for a tournament triumph, a period which he admits was a supremely testing time.
An emotional Anderson said: “The last few months have been hard for me.
“I have been struggling since early December, so it is nice to get one. I started off a bit iffy and then I picked it up.
“I’m over the moon. Nowadays there are so many good players.
“It’s not like 10 years ago when you pick the quarter-finals and the last 16.
“It’s a different kettle of fish now. I enjoy playing darts.
“Sometimes it does not play ball body-wise and that’s what I have to put up with.

“If I get beat I go home, pop off to my bed.”
Anderson was full of praise for Lipscombe, who beat fan favourite Damon Heta en route to the final.
He said: “Fair play to Adam. I expect him to do well and put a hole in the rankings.”
The eighth instalment of the Players Championship gets underway on Wednesday and will also be held in Hildesheim.
Leicester will host events nine and ten, which take place on March 31 and April 1 respectively.
