VIDDAL RILEY says Jake Paul CAN win a world title – with a fight between them edging closer.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul found himself No14 ranked in the WBA after beating ex-middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

And the outspoken American has boasted how he will overcome the odds to go from Disney Channel star to world boxing champ.

That has been met with huge backlash and outright laughter – but cruiserweight contender Riley warned not to rule anything out.

He told SunSport at IBA’s event in Turkey: “Things that’s in place today as we know within an hour or less or more everything can change.

“So I can’t stand here and say he can’t be a world champion in this game of boxing for me to say that would be naive.”

Riley was a talented amateur – winning youth championships – before turning professional in 2018.

But he did so after shooting to fame as the trainer of Paul’s arch YouTube rival KSI.

Paul has since veered away from the celebrity-style fights to carve out an improving 12-1 record in the boxing ring.

And while now ranked and beating ex-champs – albeit it undersized and out of their prime – Riley reckons a fight with Paul is no longer just fantasy.

He said: “It’s not really down to me. I’ve got a plan.

“I’m achieving on my plan but it’s looking more likely to happen based on the path he’s chosen and the path I’m on.

“So long may it continue and if the boy can get paid for it, shout me.”

Riley, 27, is coming off a career-best win over Chev Clarke, 34, in April to win the British title.

Meanwhile Paul, 28, has been beaten just once in the ring losing a split-decision to Tommy Fury, 26, in 2023.

He has since won six on the spin and victory over Chavez Jr to land himself a world ranking puts him closer than ever to a title shot.

But Riley warned it does not matter how many followers or millions Paul has – he still has to prove himself good enough to win championship gold.

He said: “There’s always the factor of the game which is most important that people forget about is he has to fight to obtain them.

“And that’s where, no matter what plans anyone has, can always be ruined.”
