And after the match, he said: “As soon as young darts players realise it’s not about the big 100+ averages, it’s about timing things at the right time.
“Unfortunately, they’re going to learn off me and there’s going to be more of them.”
Wade’s comments came back to haunt him after an 11-2 thrashing in the final against 18-year-old Littler.
And fans were not about to let him forget about his comments, as one said: “What score was the final again?”
Another added: “Timed that brilliantly mate fair play.”
One joked: “This aged well.”
Another said: “Aged like milk.”
Littler – who became the youngest darts world champ of all time at 17 in January – bagged another £110,000 cash prize.

And he admitted to finally getting the trophy that had been evading him for the past two years.
Littler said: “I had a job to do, I just wanted to pick up the trophy and it’s one I can tick off the list now.
“It’s one I’ve wanted to win. It’s my third time here, I came here two years ago as a 16-year-old, last year I was in the quarter-final and now I’ve gone two better this year to win it.”
