The build-up to the Madison Square Garden melee, which was initially set to take place last November, had been cordial until Miocic branded former pound-for-pound king Jones a “b***h”.
Hall of Famer Jones has taken umbrage to the taunt and vowed to make the former two-time heavyweight champion eat his words.
In an Instagram video of himself watching the UFC 309 countdown, Jones said: “See the disrespect in you calling me a b***h, Stipe.
“The disrespect didn’t have to happen. You’re gonna wish you didn’t say that.”
He later added: “Hiring black fighters to mimic me will not help you Stipe.
“And you shouldn’t have called me a b***h, the disrespect wasn’t necessary. Let’s play.”
UFC 309 will be the MMA leader’s first pay-per-view card since the abolition of the 12-6 elbow came into effect.
Jones’ only career loss came courtesy of a disqualification following his use of the strike as he brutalised Matt Hammil in December 2009.

How to Watch UFC 309
The UFC makes it’s annual visit to New York City on November 16 for another blockbuster pay-per-view card.

Topping the bill at the ‘World’s Most Famous Arena’ is the eagerly-anticipated heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and former titleholder Stipe Miocic.
And in the co-main event of the evening, Michael Chandler will throw down with former lightweight champion and fellow fan favourite Charles Oliveira.
UFC 309 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated cards of what has been another massive year for MMA’s top promotion.
And fans in the UK and Ireland can watch all the action from what promises to be an incredible night at MSG live on TNT Sports Box Office.

And the 37-year-old is looking to batter Miocic with the elbow now that it’s no longer illegal.
When asked about the rule being overturned, he told Kevin Iole: “It just makes me wish that disqualification was overturned.
“That’s the biggest feeling that I have once I learned that rule is no more.
“On the other hand, I accept the move more than ever, now.
“I’ve been training extensively on different 12-6 elbow attacks.
“It’s funny because it’s been such a big no-no move, so you train yourself not to go there.
“And now to be able to use that strike, I mean it’s a very damaging strike.
“It just opens up so many more options both on the feet and [on the ground].
“I’m excited to hopefully be the first UFC athlete to legally display it at Madison Square Garden.”
