Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager Mourinho rocked up at Fenerbahce in the summer of 2024, six months on from being axed by Roma.
The two-time former Champions League winner guided them to a runner-up finish last term.
Mourinho did not manage to win any silverware during his stint as Fenerbahce boss, having been knocked out of the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals and fallen to Rangers in the Europa League round of 16 last term.
The Turkish side lost 1-0 to Benfica in their crucial Champions League play-off second leg on Wednesday night, having drawn 0-0 in Istanbul last week.
Former Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu’s first-half goal consigned Fenerbahce to another season in the Europa League.
Prior to the match, confident Fenerbahce vice-president Hamdi Akin claimed his side would “easily” beat Benfica.
Quizzed about Akin’s comment, Mourinho amazingly said: “Believe it or not, but I don’t know who he is.
“I don’t know this person, nor his influence, let alone his important in the structure of the club. No one has ever introduced me.”

Last October, Mourinho speculated about what his next job could be.
He said: “The best thing I have to do is – when I leave Fenerbahce – I go to a club that doesn’t play Uefa competitions.
“So if any club in England, from the bottom of the table, needs coach in two years – I am ready to go.”
When Mourinho’s comments resurfaced earlier this week, several Manchester United fans joked that the ex-OId Trafford boss could be the man to replace under-fire Ruben Amorim.
One wrote: “So Mourinho is going back to Man Utd, innit?”
While a second posted: “None of them can manage the pressure and the culture of winning. We just need Jose Mourinho back.”
SunSport revealed last week that Mourinho had emerged as a candidate to replace Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest.
Nuno, 51, is under pressure at the City Ground following a row with the club’s head of football Edu.
Mourinho is the second former Man Utd boss to lose their job with a Turkish giant this week.
