Ipswich Town ace Julio Enciso was reduced to tears after he was injured in the clash against Aston Villa.

The Paraguay star, on loan from Brighton, was making just his second start when he suffered a horror injury.

After only 15 minutes he dropped to the ground and signalled to the bench there was an issue with his left leg.

Two minutes later, he was replaced by Jack Clarke.

When he left the pitch, Enciso pulled his shirt over his mouth and appeared devastated.

Enciso’s career has been plagued by injury – having missed much of the 2023/24 season.

Incredibly, the 21-year-old missed 38 games in the last campaign for club and country, after tearing his meniscus.

He returned to action in February last year – playing 17 minutes for the Seagulls against Everton.

It is bad news for Paraguay who were set to call up the midfielder for their World Cup qualifying games against Chile and Colombia next month.

The highly-rated South American has been used sparingly by Fabian Hurzeler – appearing just twice for Brighton this term.

He played in their Carabao Cup run that saw them eliminated by Liverpool in the round of 16.

Enciso scored in the 4-0 thrashing of Norwich City last month in the FA Cup third round.

Ipswich Town’s woes were compounded in the first half when Axel Tuanzebe was sent of at Villa Park in the 40th minute for picking up two yellow cards.

It’s the first time the former Man Utd youth star has seen red in his career.

However, Ipswich managed to earn a hard earned 1-1 draw.
