KATE Ferdinand was a proud stepmother as she posed with Lorenz Ferdinand at a major celebration of his career to date.

The 17-year-old is following in the footsteps of his dad Rio Ferdinand, and has just completed the season on the team of Brighton and Hove Albion.

Lorenz later picked up a trophy at the club’s Players Awards, and Kate shared how proud she was for the work he’s put in.

“And just like that the season is over. Such a proud moment watching you get your award last night,” she wrote on Instagram.

“It’s been a joy to watch you grow and I feel so lucky to be on this journey with you.

“I love you so much and we are all so happy to have you home for the summer before the hard work continues.”

In the picture, Lorenz donned a navy blue suit, and resembled his famous footballer dad with a signature smile.

Another photo showed Kate cuddling her toddler son Cree, who was showing his support for his brother in a Brighton and Hove Albion football kit.

The youngster had his arm rested on his mum’s shoulder, with his face away from the camera for the sake of his privacy.

Football is in Lorenz’s blood, with three members of his family playing in the Premier League – something he also aspires to.

Dad-of-five Rio had three children – Lorenz, Tate, 15, and 12-year-old Tia – with his first wife, Rebecca Ellison, who tragically died of breast cancer in 2015.

Kate and Rio have been together since 2016, and married in 2019. Together they have three-year-old son Cree and daughter Shae, who was born in July 2023.

In June last year, Kate launched The Family Tree, a children’s picture book based on her experiences as a stepmother and in a blended family.

“I feel so grateful I’ve been able to create this book, I hope you enjoy the magic of this story with your little ones & it also helps start conversations that may be difficult within blended families.”

“Not all step mums are wicked & I really hope we can start to change the narrative by having positive stories from childhood.”
