Weirich suffered three fractures to his jaw in the attack while the baby suffered a fractured skull during the incident at Swaleside Prison.

The lag had been videoed romping with disgraced officer Linda De Sousa Abreu while in his cell in June last year and the viral X-rated clip widely shared on social media.

Angbadjili-Mel appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court in Chatham, Kent, via today video link from HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes.

Wearing a grey prison issue tracksuit, he admitted one charge of GBH against Weirich but gave no indication of how he intends to plea to a charge of GBH against the baby.

Colin Monehen, defending, said: “Mr Angbadjili-Mel pleads guilty to assaulting Linton Weirich on December 18 2024 on the basis that at the time of striking Mr Weirich he was unaware Mr Weirich was holding a child.”

Weirich had been moved from HMP Wandsworth in South West London to Swaleside on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent amid the fallout from his sex tape scandal.

Rajani Prashar, prosecuting, told the court: “The victim attended the visiting halls at HMP Swaleside at around 2pm to see his partner.

“The victim had a baby on his lap when the defendant appeared from behind and punched him twice in quick succession causing the victim to fall unconscious and drop the baby to the floor.

“The baby landed on his head and the defendant then punches the victim so hard that it actually causes him to fall unconscious and he falls on top of the baby.

“The victim started to convulse on the ground and the baby was scooped up by a third party from underneath the adult victim’s weight.

“The adult victim suffered three fractures to his jaw and the baby suffered a fractured skull as a result of the assault.”

Justice of the Peace Kim Silver sent the case to Maidstone Crown Court for a hearing on September 29.

She told Angbadjili-Mel: “This is a very serious matter and should be dealt with by the crown court.

“It will be formally sent to the crown court for a plea and directions hearing.”

Ms Silver also ordered Angbadjili-Mel not to contact Weirich directly or indirectly.

She said: “That means in any way possible – via phone, social media, no contact whatsoever with Linton Weirich.”

News of the brutal attack on Weirich revealed by The Sun in January this year came just days after married prison guard De Sousa Abreu was jailed for 15 months after admitting one count of misconduct in a public office.

De Sousa Abreu, who shares an OnlyFans with her husband, was captured in the seedy video pulling down her black jail-issue trousers as she had sex with Weirich against the cell-door.

A second inmate – seen on camera smoking – says: “This is a movie innit – gangsters online.”

Her radio crackles with messages which mention “all stations” and “activity patrols” but De Sousa Abreu carries on regardless.

At one point, the second con tells her “I’m on the door” to block anyone entering, before adding: “This is how we live at Wandsworth.”
