Unlike his apparent great uncle, Romano lived most of his life on benefits in a sleepy town with just over 50,000 people.

He also did not marry and had no children, claiming he bore the name through the murderer’s father Alois.

Romano claimed Alois had a younger brother and the brother’s grandson was his dad.

The alleged dictator’s descendant had disappeared for years but an inquiry from BILD revealed he died on 22 June, 2022.

Neighbours in Görlitz, the East German city where Romano lived, knew little about the recluse.

One local said his apartment, which had bizarre images of Adolf Hitler, Angela Merkel, Osama Bin Laden, and Muhammed Ali, had been gutted as another person moved in.

The neighbour told BILD: “Mr. Hitler’s apartment was evacuated.”

This person also revealed what supposedly caused his death.

They added: “He died. Allegedly of coronavirus.”

Local authorities confirmed his death but did not not reveal why he died.

According to his identity card, Romano was born on September 6, 1950, in Sorau, Poland.

He previously claimed to BILD that he was born in Wismar, East Germany.

The alleged Hitler relative lived a very different life to his apparent great uncle.

He barely worked and supported himself through odd jobs and received €649.83 (£546) a month through social benefits.

The alleged Hitler descendant claimed he was unable to find work due to his surname previously saying, “The name is like a cross to bear and I wish that on nobody.”

Romano claimed his family ended up in what was then Czechoslovakia for unclear reasons, according to BILD.

He said: “When I was six, my parents fled to Austria.”

Romano added: “Until I was 18, I grew up with foster parents in Poland.”

The alleged final Hitler descendant was convicted of paedophilia in 2019 after he kissed a 13-year-old girl.

Romano reportedly attacked the girl, only known as Ania, after going to her home to see a garage up for sale, the girl’s dad told a German court.

How did Adolf Hitler die?

THE warmonger died as he realised he was losing World War Two.

Adolf Hitler died on 30 April 1945 in his Führerbunker in Berlin, during the final days of World War Two.

As Soviet forces closed in on the city, Hitler committed suicide alongside his wife, Eva Braun, whom he had married just the day before.

The most widely accepted account is that Hitler shot himself in the head with a pistol, while Eva Braun ingested cyanide.

He died 50 feet under the Chancellery in his Führerbunker – despite SS officers begging him to flee to his holiday home in Berchtesgarden, Bavaria.

After years of bureaucratic wrangling, a German court finally officially declared the tyrant dead in 1956.

The dad said: “I had put a garage up for sale and Hitler answered the advert.

“But when he turned up he didn’t seem to have much interest in the garage, only in Ania.

“He lured her to his flat with sweets, brought her clothes and plastic flowers and even offered to marry her.”

Romano claimed he was “innocent” and said he enjoyed her company and claimed the kiss was a German greeting.

A judge ruled Romano “kissed” the girl “against her will on both the neck and cheek”.
