LEWIS HAMILTON crashed out of the Qatar Grand Prix after a first-lap collision with Mercedes teammate George Russell.

The British ace suffered a horror race in the Middle East on Sunday after making contact with Russell on the very first corner.

A chaotic start to the event saw all the cars bunch up while approaching the first turn.

But as Hamilton and Russell vied for space, they ended up clipping each other.

Both men went spinning off the track at lightning speed.

However, Russell was able to drive back into the action as Hamilton was left stranded with a damaged car.

The seven-time world champion lost his rear-right wheel.

And he was forced back to the paddock to watch the rest of the race from Mercedes’ team base.
