LIVERPOOL fans are digesting Premier League title glory AND a shock discovery about boss Arne Slot’s real name.

The Reds confirmed their first crown for five years with Sunday’s 5-1 home win over Tottenham.

Slot has become the first Anfield chief since Kenny Dalglish in 1985-86 to win the title during his first season in charge.

Liverpool also equalled Manchester United‘s haul of 20 top-flight crowns.

And fans in awe of Slot’s achievement are equally astounded to only find out now that Arne is only his NICKNAME.

The 46-year-old was in fact given the birth name Arend Martijn Slot.

Arend – meaning Eagle –  is rarely used as a name even in his native Netherlands.

The moniker was passed down to him from his dad.

Liverpool fan Paul Senior decided the time was right for a wider audience to know that Arne is not the ex-Feyenoord chief’s true name.

And with the title unofficially in the bag for weeks, the main shock for supporters was the revelation about Slot.

PAOne fan joked Slot had ‘disguised’ his real name ahead of title joy[/caption]

One fan responded: “Not sure I’ll ever recover.”

Another commented: “Mad when you find out the managers name isn’t actually Arne.”

A third claimed: “I need to sit down.”

And in a reference to an ex-Liverpool keeper, one posted: “Like finding out Pepe Reina’s name was Jose the whole time.”

Many supporters simple couldn’t believe they had been in the dark about Arne – or rather Arend – for so long.

One said: “No way I just found this out.”

Another reckoned it had all been a mischievous master-plan by a manager whose title joy has made him an instant Anfield icon.

He wrote: “Disguised his real name as he managed @LFC winning the league. Slick Slot. Love it.”
